Aotearoa Allstars
The Aotearoa Allstars is a Wellington-based group made up of artists from a number of award winning Kaupapa Māori Music groups and features Toni Huata on vocals and percussion (singer, actor, producer - Ngāti Kahungunu, Rongowhakaata http://www.tonihuata.com), Ngahiwi Apanui on guitar and vocals (Apanui & Aotearoa - Rongomawahine, Ngāti Porou, Ngāti Hine SOUNZ), Jason McMahon on drums (Haakiwa - Ngāpuhi FB), Elliot Fuimaono on bass (Aotearoa & Southside of Bombay - Ngāpuhi, Samoa FB) and Jedidiah Lesa on keyboards (House of Shem - Tokelau, Samoa Insta). Joining the Allstars today are: Mere Boynton (Aotearoa, actor, producer - Te Aitanga a Mahaki, Ngāti Oneone, Tuhoe SOUNZ) and Dave Wilson (Sax - Te Koki & Dave Wilson Quintet https://www.davewilsonmusic.com), Kali Barton (Trombone - Southside of Bombay FB) and Ben Hunt (Trumpet - Te Koki & Rodger Fox Big Band FB). Aotearoa Allstars will play a set featuring songs from their own musical careers as well as some NZ / Māori favourites. The group aims to promote te reo Māori through music and having fun with the audience.
